A versatile chamber musician, pianist, and choral conductor, Iris Chan loves sharing the joy of music with those around her. She grew up in a vibrant music community in the greater Philadelphia area, and at a young age began learning piano, violin, music theory, and music history. Iris is a graduate of Swarthmore College, where she treasured the friendships formed through chamber ensembles. Memorable performances include Purcell’s Dido & Aeneas and Fauré's Requiem, among others.

While working in research and in medical school, Iris helped with the founding of the Longwood Chorus, Boston’s healthcare and medical choir. She wore many hats, including serving as Assistant Music Director, rehearsal pianist, music librarian, outreach chair, and her favorite – snack organizer. Highlights include singing for patients at nearby hospitals and collaborations with the Longwood Symphony Orchestra at Tanglewood Musical Festival’s Seiji Ozawa Hall.

Iris is delighted to join the Chestnuts this season. Currently, Iris is a pediatrics resident at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. In addition to music, you can find her on her bike, looking in tide pools, solving word puzzles, or diving into a crafty project.
